IPhone To Be Sold In Ten Countries, By Vodafone

May 6th, 2008 Posted in News

It is a pretty phone; it has fabulous features that only someone with a dab-hand in technological advancements could handle. However, for the simple layperson like myself, all of the extra features would only go wasted should it land in my possessions and should therefore be promoted in ten other countries – such is the new announcement made on Tuesday (or thereabouts) from Vodafone, as they aim to sell the IPhone across ten different countries later this year.

People in Australia, Egypt, Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, India, Turkey, South Africa, New Zealand and Portugal will have the opportunity to buy the IPhone using the Vodafone network. Unfortunately, Vodafone has stated that this will not be sold in the UK and Germany – bad news for those staying loyal to their Vodafone service provider. O2 and T-Mobile, however, still hold exclusive agreement with Apple on selling within the UK.

It is not clear as to which model Vodafone will be selling – whether it is the current version of the IPhone or the much-rumoured future 3G models. There have also been no comment on how much these will be sold for or if the IPhones will be locked into using Vodafone only.

This will mean that the IPhone, after Tuesdays announcement, will be widely available, as currently this is only made available in six other countries, which includes the UK, USA, Austria, Ireland, Germany and France.
